I totally agree. It’s not so much that they’re losing (well, kind of, it is) but the way they’re losing. There is no plate discipline from anybody, with the exception of Luis Cruz and A.J. Ellis. It is so frustrating watching Ethier and Kemp go up to the plate and look at two perfect strikes only to swing and miss at a ball near their feet. The pitching is in bad shape. It’s almost understandable given the injuries to Billingsley and Lilly and the bullpen with Jansen, Guerra and Elbert. But the offense has to get it together. They are too talented not to. Victorino’s been disappointing and it’s obvious he’s pressing. I wish we had the Shane that would light us up when he was a Phillie. Hopefully he’ll emerge sooner before later. I agree, they have time to turn it around…just not that much. The division will be determined this weekend against the Giants. Anything less than two wins and it’s pretty much over. The wildcard (second one), I believe is more in reach as they’re only a game and a half behind the Cards and they play four against them next Thursday at the Ravine. Let’s hope they can pull it together as I love October baseball and it’s so much sweeter with the Dodgers participating. By the way, great blog!
